Postpartum Counselling &
Therapy for New Mothers
The arrival of a baby can bring profound joy, but also exhaustion, uncertainty, and difficult emotions. For some mothers, these challenges can develop into postpartum depression (PPD) — a common and treatable condition that can occur during pregnancy or after childbirth.
PPD can look different for everyone. You may experience:
Persistent sadness, emptiness, overwhelm or emotional numbness
Frequent crying, irritability or anger
Loss of interest or enjoyment
Intense guilt or feeling like you're not a “good enough” mother
Anxiety or constant worry about your baby
Difficulty sleeping or resting
Feeling disconnected from your baby or struggling to bond
Withdrawing from your partner, family or friends
Difficulty concentrating or managing everyday tasks
The “baby blues” are common in the first days after birth. If difficult emotions persist, feel overwhelming, or interfere with your daily life, it may be helpful to seek support.
You Don't Have to Have Postpartum Depression to Seek Support
You don't need a diagnosis or to be experiencing severe difficulties to come to therapy. You may simply be finding the transition into motherhood harder than expected, feeling overwhelmed, struggling with changes in your identity or relationships, or wanting a space to process what you're going through.
Postpartum therapy can offer a safe, non-judgmental space to make sense of your experiences, reconnect with yourself, navigate changes in your relationships, and find your footing in this new chapter.
Postpartum Therapy at Resonance
At Resonance, we offer home visit counselling within Singapore for mothers who are in confinement, recovering from childbirth, or finding it difficult to leave home with a newborn.
When getting to therapy feels difficult, therapy can come to you.
Home-based therapy allows you to receive support in a familiar and comfortable environment, without the added stress of travelling to a therapy room. Sessions can support you in processing your birth experience, navigating postpartum anxiety or depression, adjusting to the demands of new parenthood, or simply having a space to talk through what you’re experiencing.
Your baby is warmly welcome during sessions. You don't have to choose between caring for your baby and caring for yourself. We meet you where you are, offering a safe and supportive space during this tender transition into motherhood.
If you prefer, counselling sessions can also take place in a therapy room. You can choose the setting that feels most comfortable and suitable for you.
