Why Resonance

Resonance is more than a name—it captures something at the heart of therapy: the experience of feeling deeply understood.

To resonate is to connect in a way that reflects or awakens something within us—to be truly met by another person. I believe our pain and struggles often point toward what matters to us. When these experiences are met with understanding, they can become a pathway to insight, healing, and meaningful change. Sometimes, that means finding words for what has long been unspoken, or finally making space for tears that have been held back for years.

The name is also inspired by resonance in physics, where one object begins to vibrate in response to another at a shared frequency. It offers a fitting metaphor for therapy: healing often emerges not because someone tells us who we are, but because we discover parts of ourselves that have been waiting to be seen. When we feel genuinely understood, we begin to reconnect with ourselves and move, gradually, toward greater clarity and wholeness.

My hope is that Resonance Counselling & Psychotherapy offers a space where you feel safe, seen, and understood—a place where meaningful change can unfold at your own pace, and where you can reconnect with what truly resonates within you.
